This summer on ILL&MATES TALK Denis Zilber impressed the Ukrainian illustration community so much that later we received a lot of requests to run workshop with Denis. And we did it with a great pleasure. This two-days workshop was devoted to characters’ design. Students got skills: creating expressive features of a character; making general shapes; drawing through and styling; using space and correct anatomy for men, women, children, and animals; drawing eyes, eyebrows, and fingers that express readable emotions; understanding and using of attributes and clothes in characters’ design.
Denis Zilber is an illustrator with more than 8 years of professional experience. He works in vast variety of artistic fields including advertising, editorial and children’s books illustration, video and board games, character design for animation and movies. During past years he has been working with major magazines as GQ, FHM, Maxim, Playboy, Blazer, The Pitch, Russian Life, National Georgraphic and newspapers as Yedioth and Maariv, also big animation studios like Hasbro Animation, Dreamworks, Nickelodeon, Rythm and Hues, Eevolver. In children’s books field he worked with Penguin Publishing and Scholastic Books, Hotkey Books, Sterling Children’s Books and Clubhouse Jr. In 2009 he started teaching and giving lectures on illustration and storytelling traveling all over the world, from Brazil, Mexico and US, to Portugal, Belarus, Israel and Ukraine.
